We’re a small team with big dreams.

Our Story

We’re originally from Wyoming, but New Mexico has been home since 2014.

In 2016, after learning more about the realities animals face in the animal agriculture industry, we made the decision to adopt a vegan lifestyle. What began as a shift in how we ate later became something much deeper - an ongoing commitment to living with greater awareness and care for all who we share this world with. Since then, we’ve been on a continual journey of learning and evolving, always reflecting on what it means to exist in this world in a more mindful, conscious, and sustainable way.

We began rescuing animals in 2020 when we moved to our current property with the intention of starting a sanctuary. The previous owners surrendered their flock of 9 chickens and 2 goats, so our animal caregiving roles started immediately. We are now home to 17 pigs, 6 goats, 3 chickens, 2 cows, 2 tortoises, and 1 turkey + our 3 dogs!

We’re a grassroots sanctuary built with a lot of heart and hands-on work. Almost everything here has been created from the ground up - through years of labor, learning, and a deep commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces for all the animals.

Outside of the sanctuary, Chelsea expands her care into the human world by running her own online therapy and coaching practice, specializing in trauma and grief. Kajen runs his own handyman and remodeling business, and many of his skills and long hours of work have helped bring the sanctuary’s structures and spaces to life.

We know the work of creating a more compassionate world is ongoing, and it is something we are deeply committed to.
